Head Start in Business

 

Head Start in Business has been a driving force in entrepreneurship awareness and initiation since 2002. Over 50,000 youth have participated in our innovative and experiential programs making entrepreneurship more accessible and realistic as a viable career option.

• Deliver consistent bilingual experiential programming aimed at introducing the concept of entrepreneurship as a viable career option to youth (5 to 18).

• Bridge the gap between thinking about starting a business and actually starting one.

• Connect young people at an early age to their communities and encourage them to seek innovative solutions to the problems they see.

• Stem the effects of youth out migration.

Northern Ontario Women

 

A Project to stimulate women-owned and women-led business start-ups and scale-ups by increasing access to business development supports throughout the Northern Ontario region. 

• Enable female entrepreneurs to access professional services they would typically not be able to afford on their own

• Enable female entrepreneurs to access experts in the transportation sector

• Provide access to consultants who can assist female entrepreneurs in operating more efficient businesses/realizing cost-saving measures

• Educate female entrepreneurs with regard to the regulatory requirements involved in exporting goods

• Provide female entrepreneurs with the opportunity to attend, free of charge, workshops hosted by their local Community Futures Development Corporations

Northeast Community Network

 

The Northeast Community Network is an incorporated, regional, not-for-profit organization that promotes collaborative economic development, applied research and support for forestry, mining, agriculture and tourism as well as business development. Integrating municipalities, First Nations, local economic development organizations and the private sector, the Network undertakes regional projects that help transform the economic landscape of Northeastern Ontario.

Northern Ontario Youth Internship Program

 

Is your business looking to undertake a new project and are considering offering a new job to help implement it? The Northern Ontario Youth Internship Program may be able to help you hire a youth intern. The program will cover up to 50% of eligible costs (up to a maximum of $35,000) related to salary and benefits and will cover up to 50% of eligible costs (up to a maximum of $5,000) related to professional development and/or development of business skills costs and/or costs related to telework equipment for a full-time intern for a period of 12 months.

 

PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise

PARO Centre for Women's Enterprise is one of Canada's most successful business support and networking organizations. As a not-for-profit social enterprise, they collaborate to empower women, strengthen small business and promote community economic development. PARO Peer Circles are small groups of like-minded women who meet regularly to share their experiences, offer advice to each other and expand their individual and shared contact networks. One of the key elements of a Peer Circle is that members also provide access to lending support of between $500.00 and $5,000.00.
